This week was full of interruptions given both Hurricane Milton and me getting sick haha! Because of the storm, all classes and campus activities, including our regularly scheduled PRINT meeting and working time, didn’t happen as usual. I’ve also been confined to my bed since I’ve been coughing up a storm of my own. To be completely honest, the only thing keeping me together this week is that luckily my family didn’t lose power, which we definitely expected after the past few hurricanes. I am very thankful that we fared well during the storm given what I’ve seen from across the state. Dr. Beiler was very kind to continually reach out to the whole PRINT team and offer resources if we needed them! I know some people on the team did lose power, but from what everyone has said checking in with the group I don’t think anyone’s home took any damage which I am relieved to hear.
I know I am behind on a blog post, so I want to discuss some of the things I did last week as well as some of my goals going into the weekend as I plan on making up some lost after from the chaos of this week.
Last week I made a cool post for the socials for World Quaker Day, which was last Saturday (October 6th). I learned that World Quaker Day was created by the Friends World Commission for Consultation and aims to celebrate and acknowledge Quakers from various cultures and countries across the world! I’ve never heard of that holiday, let alone something similar from another religion, so it was really interesting to read up on and post about! I also continued working on the final marketing plan, which I am going to finish tomorrow and Sunday so I can give it to Kayla and Dr. Beiler before the LIFE conference on Tuesday.
On the topic of the LIFE conference, this week I will be joining the PRINT team at this event to help begin writing a PRINT news story! In my internship timeline, the marketing plan is my mid-term progress marker and this news story will be my final submission for the semester. I’m excited to go and see what the team will be presenting and begin drafting ideas for how I’m going to put a story together. I really won’t know how I want to format things until I go in!
If you’re reading this, I hope you and your families are doing well after the hurricane <3
