PRINT Marketing Internship (Week Thirteen)

This week I got so much done which was AWESOME!

I feel like as we draw closer to the end of the semester, I start lagging a lot when it comes to everything I have to do, and I have to motivate myself to even get up in the morning haha! But once I start getting to work on things, especially PRINT, I can’t stop!

This week I had two main tasks: Finishing the final marketing plan with all of the edits suggested by Dr. Beiler, as well as retaking my notes for the LIFE meeting to submit to Kayla. Both were pretty easy tasks since I had already started them, although the LIFE notes did take a while since I wanted to rewatch the whole presentation. I’m really glad that the LIFE organization kept the video up since it’s been a great resource for finding quotes from both students and the principal investigators! I believe I mentioned this in a previous post, but my topic of the article will focus on how digital humanities projects help bridge both social and research generational gaps. I found it interesting how the technology aspect of a lot of LIFE events was the “selling point,” for attendance. I find that to be a similar reason as to why some students join projects like PRINT, as history typically isn’t a popular field for students my age but IS popular among older generations.

As for the marketing plan, I really only had a few changes to make, such as removing some planned events that were cancelled and reformatting the “our socials” section to include the Zooniverse talk boards! After speaking with Dr. Beiler, Kayla, and Sarah, we also all came to the conclusion that we will probably migrate from Twitter to Bluesky in terms of short form text content. We all agreed that Twitter isn’t really the platform it used to be in terms of sharing information, so that’ll be something new I’ll get to set up at some point.

This week I need to work on my first draft of my article to send Kayla, as well as brainstorm a fun social media post! My goal is to get at least 3 more posts up by the end of the semester, so I wonder what they’ll be. Writing this post, I did have an idea about something the marketing team has already been working on that I could get up in the next few days. The topic of the post might be relevant given a certain movie that’s being released this week, so I’ll have to see if the idea is “popular” among Kayla and Sarah 👀🧹🫧
