About My Portfolio

I wanted my ePortfolio to look professional yet engaging and incorporate vintage or historical aesthetics in some way. I myself have a vintage typewriter and loved the black and white look, so I really enjoyed designing the site around this theme. When creating the site itself, I found that Wix was the easiest platform to do so. Not only have I used it before, but it was also the only platform I found that allowed full creativity with the layout of the portfolio.

I wanted my layout to be very accessible and easy to understand for both myself when updating the site, and for any visitors that want to know more about me and my work.  I had some issues figuring out how to display and organize the blog posts feature but with some trial and error I was able to create both a section on my home page for recent reflective work and an entire blog page where all reflective work can be found. Originally, I had my contact information at the bottom of the page but per Dr. Beiler’s suggestion I ended up going with a message box instead. This can be accessed on any page of the website by either scrolling down or clicking the “contact me” button at the top of the page. I personally find it annoying when I can’t find someone’s contact information on a website so figuring the best way to configure this feature was important to me.

I really want to showcase my goals and personality throughout my portfolio. Even though I’m not exactly sure what I want to do with my degree yet, I definitely have an idea of where I want to go with my career and why. I’m hoping I’ll get more of an idea as I build up my portfolio and begin networking with more professionals.
