PRINT Marketing Internship (Week FIVE)

This week I finished working on the marketing plan draft for PRINT!

I had never made a marketing plan before, so this was a great learning experience for me. I did lots of research on what to include in the draft, which gave me a good idea as to how I should format everything. I ended up including things like the demographics for our socials and our goals for each page, prospective projects, and a universal “about PRINT” statement that can be used on all socials and in other promotional material.

Earlier this semester I also made a form to gauge interest in participating in future PRINT posts, as well as get feedback from the team as to what content they would like to see on the socials going forward! I got a lot of suggestions for posts about weird, interesting, or personal letters that we’ve transcribed. I also got a lot of suggestions for posts about the PRINT team and what we do! Posts like that will be my next project, as well as finishing the final marketing plan to show Dr. Beiler (I’m excited about making the final draft since I’ll get to be creative and make it presentable!).

On Thursday I met with Kayla to briefly look over the draft and she said it looks good! She is going to write up some feedback and send it over to me so I can make edits and changes accordingly. I was pretty nervous since again, I had never made a marketing draft and despite how many examples I referenced I still didn’t know if I had it “right,” but it looks like what I made is a great start in finishing the final plan.

On Thursday I also was talking with Bree and Adaeze and they were telling me about a series of letters they had read that discussed piracy and murder! They weren’t sure why the murder had happened at first so together they did a deep-dive to figure out the whole story. It was really interesting and I asked them to send me the details because it seems like a really cool posts for October since we have some other cool Halloween posts planned and I think a story about real life pirates would be a perfect addition to the lineup. I still need to look through everything they sent me but I am very excited to take a look at their research! I think something like this would also fit into the category of interesting and personal stories from the letters, which people wanted to see.
