This week I continued working on new posts for the PRINT socials, specifically the Instagram page! One of my biggest priorities when designing the new posts is adding more color to the overall aesthetic of the page. When I originally went through all of PRINT’s social media pages, I actually loved the content that was being posted, but overall the page looks really monotone and beige. I really like how the posts utilize the PRINT letters in their design, so I really want to implement them going forward as well. What I came up with were some informational slides that can be used throughout the page that feature the letters in the background and a colored text box that matches the colors that PRINT uses in their current marketing. Hopefully this will catch some more eyes for new people following the page.
I also began creating a “get to know them” series of Instagram story posts that we’ll archive so they can always be viewed, even after 24 hours has passed. This will showcase the amazing PRINT team, each person’s role in the project, and also include a mini biography so viewers can see the real people behind PRINT. Since PRINT’s main research goal is to highlight and track the real human connections that helped shape the Atlantic world, I want to really humanize the page to connect to potential onlookers and give them a reason to care about the project outside of having an interest in history and PRINT’s research.
This Wednesday I had a meeting with Kayla and Sarah, who have also been assisting with PRINT’s marketing. We discussed a lot of fun ideas for the socials, especially YouTube and Instagram! I was really nervous since I had a lot of ideas jotted down but I never know if its “too much” or “not enough,” but they were all a hit! I’m planning on creating an audio exhibit for the YouTube page which would not only highlight PRINT’s research but could also be a potential resource for students studying this era of migration. I just need to find someone to narrate, lol!
I’m really glad that the PRINT team is so supportive, everyone is so incredibly kind which makes working a lot easier! Especially with something like marketing, having a great group of people makes everything ten times more genuine.
